The OLCHS Boys Soccer team is off to a rocky start this season going into the Windy City Classic Tournament. Although playing tough against Victoria Soto, the team could not find the net and lost the game 2 – 0. The boys also faced a hard defeat against Homewood Flossmoor going down two goals in the first half but Piotr Del Real finding the net towards the end of the game for the Spartans to come out with a 2 – 1 loss. Oskaras Patasius also received a red card which led to the Spartans playing one man down. Man of the Match went to both Jose Hernandez and Alessandro Lopez who showed great defense and fought for every ball with all they had. The boys brought all the anger they developed from the previous two games out against De La Salle and showed great soccer, netting two goals and keeping a clean sheet. Man of the Match went to Mo-mo who scored the first goal and assisted the second goal. This Friday the boys faced off a near impossible team who the Spartans haven’t seen a victory against for a very long time. Stagg has been one of the hardest teams in our area and beating them was very unlikely. This didn’t stop the boys from putting their best on the field and winning the game 1 – 0 after the very intense 90 minutes of play. Although the OLCHS Soccer team may have had a rocky start, they still have an entire season ahead of them, playing their first conference game against Breman this Tuesday at the Spartan Athletic Complex followed by Oak Forest that Thursday.
