Some people run seriously, setting goals and trying to break personal time records. This year on November 2nd, Chicago hosted races, a 5k, 10k, and a 15k.
To run a race takes intensive training, regular running, and exercised lungs and endurance. In preparation for a race, training should start two to three months prior to the race.
I ran in the 10k on Sunday the 2nd, but I did not prepare traditionally. Signing up was a spur of the moment decision with my cousins. The three of us have no training and have never ran a race before.
I do not recommend signing up for a 10k two weeks before the actually race. Running 6.2 miles without training is very strenuous on your body, though, do-able. I did complete the race with minimal walking or stopping, but it did leave my muscles sore for a few days.
The thing I really liked about this was that once the race was done, everyone gets a medal and a racers jacket, along with a warm cup of hot chocolate, and some snacks.
In the future I will do this again but with training and proper preparation. All things considered the race was very fun and the run through Grant Park, Chicago was nice. I do recommend.
