Dear Bella and Samantha: There is a girl a grade above me who has liked me for a few months now. However, I am interested in someone close to her. Everytime that I make an attempt to have a conversation with who I like, the other girl shuts me down. I want things with the girl I’m interested in to work out, but with the other girl in the way, I can’t see anything ever being able to work. How do I fix this situation without hurting anyone’s feelings, or is it possible at all to fix this without hurting someone’s feelings? -THE FRESH
Dear THE FRESH: It seems that you are caught in quite the love triangle. However, there is a simple answer to your question. That answer is honesty, as many say honesty is always the best policy. Communicate your feelings to the girl that likes you, and be completely transparent with her, but I cannot promise that this will not hurt anyone’s feelings. Everybody is their own person and reacts to such hard news differently. However, this does not mean you should change your opinions or lie to comfort someone else. A lie is never comforting even though the truth may hurt; it is better to get that over with now rather than later.
Dear Bella and Samantha: I am having an extremely difficult time balancing such a busy schedule. Between school work with all of my honors classes, after school with basketball practices, and boy scouts on top of all of this, time management can be very stressful. I manage to get all of my work done but in order to do this I miss out on many hours of sleep at night. This affects my performance in school during the day making it hard to stay attentive during class, and even harder to have energy to push myself through practice. Do you have any tips on how to keep up with all of my activities, along with getting a good amount of rest at night.- LOST
Dear LOST-Balancing such a busy schedule can make it easy to lose focus on everything that has to be done, however never let your schedule get the best of you. It seems that you get everything needed done, but losing hours of sleep can take a toll on your mind and body. To try to fit everything into your schedule and getting a good night’s sleep, try setting up a calendar including times and assignments that need to be done. This can help you keep your schedule more organized along with prioritizing important deadlines. After a while such a routine will become second nature to you—overall helping you stay awake for school and energized for practice.
