The Oak Lawn Community High School Drumline absolutely defeated Richards for the second year in a row on Sept. 25.
The OLCHS students began preparing for the event at the beginning of this school year, working on many old and new cadences. They all had one goal in their minds, to make Richards put down their drumsticks and go home.
Band Director Mr. Paul Levy said, “It’s always fun to see the middle schoolers and get them excited about joining us.”
Both drumlines played an array of different cadences, some the same as last year and some different.
Sophomore and first year Drumline member Lucille Smolucha said, “I had a lot of fun. I regret not joining last year and am excited for next year’s battle. We definitely destroyed Richards.”
Drumline and the band as a whole have many events coming up later this school year, including the Fine Arts Festival in December and several concerts during the second semester.
