If you go to Oak Lawn Community High School, you are bound to see our adorable furry friend Luigi roaming the halls or hanging out with Mr. Montes. He is an adorable little friend and he is here to provide emotional support and comfort for students in need. Like most dogs, Luigi is food driven, meaning he loves to get treats. Students are allowed to pet him and give him treats whenever they feel the need to. According to social worker Mr. Montes, “Luigi loves coming to work because he gets treats and attention” and Luigi never fails to get attention from people due to his long and fluffy white fur, which makes him look very adorable and approachable to our fellow OLCHS students. As Mr. Montes told me during an interview, “Luigi wants to become best friends with every dog he sees. He is very, very, very, friendly.” Luigi is a very silly dog and he’s an expert at tug of war and winning the hearts of thousands of students and staff. Mr. Montes claims that when Luigi was a puppy, he stole an entire steak from a Barbecue. During the interview, he also claimed, “when he was a puppy, Luigi decided to steal a whole stake. He also used to steal socks so he would always have a hoard of socks hidden away from me.”
Luigi is about 5 years old as the school decided to adopt him during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was born in Michigan and then moved to Oak Lawn. The student services staff department All wanted to take care of Luigi, but Mr. Montes was the lucky one who got to keep him. When Luigi first went to the school, he wasn’t scared at all, as his training helped him get used to being in new strange places. Thanks to his training, Luigi doesn’t bark or jump, making him the pawsitively best friend anyone could have.
