The transition from middle school to high school can be hard. From how to sign up for Spartan+ to which clubs and activities to get involved with, many freshmen end up confused and overwhelmed. That’s why this article exists, to make freshman year less stressful.
One of the best advice for freshmen is to keep up grades and don’t fall behind on schoolwork. Sophomore Ella Ehrman said, “Make sure to keep up on your work or you’ll end with missing work on top of your regular homework.”
Oak Lawn Community High School has many clubs and activities that you are able to join. Senior Miley Grover said, “The music department is a great program to get involved in. You can join choir, band, theatre, speech, guitar, and much more.”
Other activities outside of the music department include 27 sports teams and 40+ clubs. Some of these clubs and sports are football, soccer, basketball, Spartanite, Chess, and Gaming club. More information about all of these clubs and more can be found on the OLCHS website.
To continue with the OLCHS website, anything school related can be found there. On the homepage there’s a calendar with all school events including sporting events, days off of school, and much more. Other things such as Skyward and Canvas access, bell schedules, and the student-parent handbook can also be found on the website.
Freshman year can be a stressful time, but if you have the right resources, you’ll turn out just fine.
