Chappell Roan is an American singer who rose to fame early this year with her songs “Good Luck Babe!” and “Feminominon”. She played for millions of people at Lollapalooza over the summer, but it wasn’t always this way.
Kayleigh Rose Amstutz was born in Missouri on February 19th, 1998. She started posting her original melancholy piano songs on YouTube where she was eventually discovered by a record label.
A few years later, she made her way to California where she truly found her people. It was there she released her EP School Nights and gained a small following.
Eventually, she realized that depressing ballads weren’t for her and leaned into a more synth-pop feel with her 2020 song “Pink Pony Club”. Due to this switch, she lost her record label and had to move back to Missouri.
In Missouri, she worked at a coffee shop and played gigs in between shifts. Near the end of 2020, she decided she had to go back to LA to follow her dreams.
She continued to write music while working as a nanny and working at a donut store. In 2022, Olivia Rodrigo asked Roan to perform as her opening act on her Sour Tour which caused her career to skyrocket.
That next year, she was signed to Island Records and released her album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Even though she had a slow start in the music world, she eventually made it.
