The Oak Lawn Spartans Football team has had no problem scoring points this year. The offense is clicking and moving the ball with consistency. However, the Spartans continue to struggle to turn these points into victories.
There have been key players that have brought success to the team’s offense this year. Quarterback Tadgh Walsh and running back Alex Soto are leading the offense. In the trenches Faris Qatanani and Karmoni Polk are doing the job. Unfortunately, Qatanani is currently sidelined with an injury.
“I believe some of our top performers this season have been Alex Soto and Tadhg Walsh,” head coach Ryan Pattison said. “Both of them have performed well. Both of them bring speed and athleticism. Another two players who have performed well are Faris Qatanani and Karmoni Polk. They both bring size, strength and physicality.”
The future is bright for the Spartans as this year the varsity team has more juniors than seniors in the starting lineup. The current freshman and junior varsity teams have had lots of success on the field this season as well.
“My favorite part of this year’s team is our youth and watching them grow into varsity athletes” Pattison said. “We are only starting 2-3 seniors this season and watching the young players get better each week has been enjoyable. We will be a different team by the end of the season.”
Being motivated each week is an important goal for the team as well as setting high expectations.
“I believe this team keeps themselves motivated, although they are young, they have high expectations for themselves, and it’s only a matter of time before it is going to all come together on the football field,” Pattison said.
The Spartans look forward to improving this year and gaining more experience for the future.
