As a senior, the end of the school year is barreling toward me faster than ever. It still doesn’t feel real to me that my high school career is almost over. While I’ve been excited to finish high school, thinking about what comes next for me is a bit scary.
After applying to colleges and spending too much time second guessing myself, I finally made the decision to attend Columbia College in Chicago next fall, where I will be majoring in interior architecture. The first step of my journey is mapped out, but there’s still classes to choose, housing and roommates to be assigned, and so many other things flying through my mind. By the end of this summer, I will be given adult responsibilities while still being a kid. Knowing this, I will try my best to savor the last few days of school and my summer break.
Before it’s time for me to leave, I plan on finishing making my mark at OLCHS. I have been working on two murals; one is an independent project which will be going in the wood room as ceiling panels, and the other is a group project lead by Tori Hartin, which will be hung in the 2nd floor breezeway next year. Using my passion for art to impact the school building that I have spent years of my life in is really cool to me. When the time inevitably comes to start this new chapter in my life, OLCHS will still be part of me; and I’m really proud to say I will still be a part of it too.
