The OLCHS Talent Show is always a night not to be missed. Hosted by the Senior Class Advisory Board, talents of all kinds take the stage in the PAC for a night of music, dance, and fun.
On November 16th, a sizable crowd gathered to watch each performer OLCHS had to offer. There were returning acts from last year, such as the “NASCAR kid”, which is the moniker given to Nate Swan for his captivating NASCAR commentary. Even though not many people in the crowd may have been familiar with NASCAR, Nate got everyone excited with his passion and talent.
Two singers also reprised their acts, but this time as a duet. Jayla Clark and Amber Trigg teamed up for a sultry, enchanting rendition of Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande. Their performance was so impressive that they took home first place.
While it was nice to see familiar faces, a few acts were entirely new and unique. TLC, a dance group, took home second place. Emely Rodriguez, India Broadway-Rose, and Kaylee Smalley won second place with a high-energy dance routine set to a medley of recognizable dance hits.
A group of seven Dabke dancers were awarded third place for their synchronized dance routine. Dabke is a traditional style of dance particularly popular in Palestine. While their dancing was precise and skilled, it was also full of clear love for their culture.
Although not every act took home a prize, every performer who took the stage was extremely talented. From a haunting, gothic cover performed by Mia Reyes to an enthralling original piano composition by Gabriela Bednarczyk, the stage was alight with talent the whole night.
Each performer lined the stage before the show came to a close, and the winners were announced. The excited energy in the room was infectious as first, second, and third place were given their accolades. Every act brought their absolute best, which was obvious no matter if they placed or not. Congratulations to Amber Trigg, Jayla Clark, TLC, and the Dabke dancers!
