Golf, by definition, is a very hard sport. When competing, golfers usually stay on the course for four hours, which is an almost every day thing. OLCHS carries the most dedicated and versatile players, and everyone has been a player for 3-4 years. Some players have never played before joining and some have years of experience, but many of these players have the love for golf in common. Senior Rocky Enriquez whose first time ever golfing was freshmen year says, “It took me awhile to reach everybody’s level but with a lot of practice almost every day I improved.” Rocky’s teammates were like no other. They welcomed a new golfer who had only joined because she saw her sister doing it and made her a part of the team. Enriquez says, “I would recommend golf because everyone on the team is super friendly. It is also a fun sport to play aside from the cool people who made it fun for me. Getting to play on new courses and see different environments is also cool!” Being a part of the golf team myself, I definitely recommend joining. The golf season lasts two months with no practice on Fridays, leaving room for clubs and other activities. In these two months, a lot can get done. This year, the golf team showed great effort with varsity player Teagan Kryzstof being this year’s 3rd place all conference placer and also the 6th place regional placer advancing to sectionals. Varsity player Katie Casey also won 6th place at regionals advancing to sectionals. Though sectionals are hard, everyone is confident they will do well or at least try their best.
