The Oak Lawn girls cross-country team recently took a field trip to Project C.U.R.E. Founded in 1980, Project C.U.R.E. is the world’s largest distributor of international medical supplies, delivering three to five semi-truck-sized containers to hospitals and clinics all across the world that have limited access to medical supplies. A number of healthcare professionals also travel with Project C.U.R.E. every year to provide medical treatment to communities that are in need of medical treatment.
“We’re focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, Ebola, and COVID-19. We also work alongside health experts to treat victims of earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters as well as societal crises, Project C.U.R.E. said.
Girls cross country volunteered for three hours, checking expiration dates on medical supplies: surgical bags, medication, gloves, first aid kits, scalpels, etc. They then got to deliver the packages to different parts of the warehouse, depending on where the medical supplies were being shipped.
Project C.UR.E. is supported by over 30,000 volunteers annually making Project C.U.R.E this the perfect for anyone looking for volunteer hours or interested in medicine or simply just helping people. This was not only an incredible opportunity the girls cross-team got to experience but also an amazing team bonding experience that we’ll forever remember.
