‘Certified Lover Boy’ Album Music Review

Jayla Clark, Writer

Drake released an album on September 3rd named ‘Certified Lover Boy’.  Since his early days of music, he has shown certain and different styles and talked about something real and true. The beats in this album are mostly samples of some other piece of music like in Champagne Poetry, the song samples a song called Michelle –  The Beatles. His flow is very smooth on most songs in the album. It fits nice with the bass in the background. “Drake is by no means a bad artist but he’s fallen into a cycle where I cant differentiate between any of his work. Its becoming very monotonous and its hard to listen to most of his music. Not even Considering how I feel about drake as a person ” Max Cipriani stated. Some people can agree that his music has become more repetitive. When he first came out into the rap game in the era of the 2000s, it was understandable that people liked him because he gave something new. His flow was different than some rapper in that time period. His story-telling is not always on top but it has been always about flow and word play.  In this album, its clear that nothing much has changed, its just the beat. The album is decent but it is not his best album. He made hits but he did not make art. It is good in the eyes of society because of what they hear not because of what they comprehend. So when it comes to this album, its nice to listen to but its not iconic when people could listen to it years from now. Although he has song like that in the album like Champagne Poetry and Knife Talk and Way 2 Sexy. Those songs are popular due to tiktok and most songs that are popular on tiktok tend to stay around and end up staying on playlist. So when it comes to this album its not bad, its just not the best in his whole career.
