This year has all been a headspin of information as we try to go about our normal lives while staying safe. All through this, the girl’s varsity tennis team has kept strong through their season. Overall their record of 3-4 doesn’t reflect their hard work as much as their South Suburban Conference Red scores do.

The team earned their spot of third overall amongst the other competitive schools like Richards and Lemont. “Placing third in conference was a great victory for our team considering the constantly changing schedule and Covid-19 hurdles the girls faced,” said Sarah Zavala, the head coach.

Iman Khater and Noor Adi, second doubles, went 5-1 and took second in conference. The first doubles team of Vanessa Herrera and Aneta Dzielska ended their season at 4-2 and third in conference. Karolina Pawlikowska took fifth for second singles and Angelica Gubala took third with Camille Yu for third doubles. The final senior is Mellissa Weber.

When asked about the seniors of the class of 2021, head coach Sarah Zavala said, “The team will graduate seven seniors and four talented starters. I’m sad to lose the talent and leadership, but next year’s team looks promising and I’m excited to see what they bring to the courts!”

Congratulations to the girls varsity tennis team on their great season! We will all be sad to see the seniors go, but we wish them luck as they finish off the rest of their final year here at OLCHS.
