Succeeding In Remote Learning – Some Tips!

Progress reports came out recently and with that, you may not be thrilled with your grades. Remote learning definitely poses new challenges with staying focused because instead of being in a classroom where a teacher can keep you on task, you’re at home with a multitude of distractions at your disposal. So I’ve compiled three useful tips to help you do your best in remote learning!

1.) Put Away Your Phone!

Okay, I know this one isn’t easy. While in an in-person class, you typically won’t feel very inclined to take out your phone. During remote learning, this definitely becomes more difficult. Ideally, you should turn off your phone and put it on the other side of the room so you won’t feel the urge to grab it. If you don’t want to do that, the least you should do is turn your phone on silent so that any notifications won’t distract you.

2.) Keep Track Of Your Assignments!

Although this may seem obvious, it can be hard to do. Make sure you write down your assignments somewhere, because they may be hard to keep track of during remote learning. Some teachers assign things on Canvas, while others may have you complete an assignment on separate websites or even on paper. Writing them all down and keeping them in one place can be a lot more convenient and easier to keep track of.

3.) Treat Remote Learning Like a Regular School Day!

On a regular in-person school day, you get up, get dressed, maybe have a bite to eat, and then head off to school. During remote learning, you may feel inclined to just stay in your pajamas and stay in bed while doing your work. While this may be comfortable, I’ve found that I’m always less alert and focused that way. If you get up, get dressed, and do your work somewhere that isn’t your bed, you’ll end up feeling much more awake and your work will probably be of better quality.

Those are all my tips, hopefully they help! Remote learning is definitely different, but it doesn’t have to be super stressful. If you’re trying your best and ask for help when you need it, I promise that’s enough. Remember, no one’s perfect, and one or two bad grades won’t ruin your life.
