The Freshmen/Sophomore Class Advisory Board is organizing a coat drive to help families this winter season. This annual event has been going for 16 years! This great tradition at OLCHS will benefit the Oglala Tribe that lives in the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The Oglala Tribe lives in one of the two most poorest counties in the country. 40,000 members of the tribe resides there and the unemployment rate is over 80%. This coat drive is a great way to lend a helping hand.

FSCAB is asking for slightly used or new coats of all sizes to help this great cause. When asked what her favorite part of doing it Teacher Mrs. Newton said “Knowing that we are helping people is the most rewarding part for all of us”. Freshmen Mathani Elhag “I like the Coat Drive because it benefits others who really need it”. If you wish to participate in this great cause please drop off the coats in the Student Services Office (Room 117).
