Building Hospitals for the Bolivian People
The Cross Countries service group at the OLCHS has been fundraising and collecting money yearly to support third world countries. Over the years, the group has raised over 225,000 dollars to give students the opportunity to help build hospitals in South America. This year’s group is no exception, with students mostly from the Senior Class fundraising money for a trip to Bolivia where they would help build the only level 1 trauma center in the country. They are collecting 30,000 dollars to return to Bolivia to continue work on the hospital. Bolivia is one of the poorest countries in South America, with over 70% of the country in poverty. first fundraiser the group is holding is taking place at Arena Lanes October 5th. This event is Bowling for Bolivia 2018 and has a dinner followed by bowling, a program, and a raffle. The Cross Countries also have many other fundraising ideas planned throughout the year and have a goFundMe account set up for anyone wanting to donate.
