Alabama vs. Georgia Championship Game
The epic comeback of No. 4 Alabama against No. 3 Georgia will be the game that everyone talks about for years to come. The Georgia Bulldogs were favorites to win the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship for football. Alabama wanted to prove everyone wrong.
The first two quarters of the game, Georgia held Alabama scoreless. They were up 13-0 at halftime. Jake Fromm, the quarterback of Georgia, helped them with consistency in the first half. Jalen Hurts, quarterback of Alabama, wasn’t. He wasn’t making great throws and his defense wasn’t helping him. The surprise came in the second half when Tua Tagovailoa replaced Hurts to start.
Each play for Alabama was if it was the last play of the game. He passed for 166 yards and three touchdowns. He also flashed some of his running game too. Alabama let the game slip from them once again as Georgia was trying to push back.
After tying the game late in the fourth quarter, Alabama had a chance to win the game with a field goal. Unfortunately, the kicked missed wide left. The game was going to overtime.
Georgia received the ball first and pushed to get a touchdown. But the Alabama defense sacked Fromm and forced them to kick a field goal. Alabama needed a touchdown to win the game or a field goal to tie the game again. The true freshman, Tua Tagovailoa, threw to Smith who ran it in for the touchdown. Alabama won the National Championship 26-23.
