Spartans Knock the Wind Out of Bremen
Soccer season has once again begun here at Oak Lawn and our boys’ soccer team is already off to a tremendous start by taking first place in the Windy City Ram Classic against Bremen High School at Toyota Park. Oak Lawn came ready to battle in this game knowing that Bremen would be a tough competitor. They managed to start the game in an outstanding way by producing a 2’ goal, shot by Giovanni Barragan, off a corner. When asked after the game how that early first goal effected their play, Giovanni stated, “It definitely boosted our confidence in the game and pushed us to play hard for the rest of it.” Gio wasn’t kidding when he said that. Just 10 minutes after the first goal, he managed to score a second for Oak Lawn. The score was now 2-0, and they still had very much left in the game to go. The second half began with yet another, final goal for Oak Lawn, scored by Mohammed Faraj, assisted by Matt Barrera in the 50’. Oak Lawn played an outstanding game beating Bremen 3-0. This victory would mark the first ever championship that the soccer program has obtained. With a start like this, it is almost certain that Oak Lawn will have a very good year, maybe even their best yet.
