Thrillin’ and Chillin’ at Great America

Gina Snyder, Staff Writer

The second annual Great America senior trip is underway! The graduating class is preparing for an all night stay at the exhilarating roller coaster park.
Ms.Jones is leading the field trip for the second year and shared some information about the event. The event begins on May 14th with students arriving at the school at 6:30p.m. The night will begin with a presentation with “most likely” awards to conclude a fun-filled year. The seniors  then will take a bus to the theme park for early admission access to rides for an hour before other guests arrive. When the OLCHS seniors get free reign for an hour at the park, lines for rides may only take 30 minutes over the 60-90 minute average.
Around 250 students are expected to attend the event.
The Great America trip is a relatively new event since only three years ago the school had the annual senior picnic. Ms.Jones and Mr.McCurdy felt it was time to change the event to something a little more exciting, like Six Flags. Not only do the seniors get to ride roller coasters from 9pm to 6am,but there is also a DJ dance party and a buffet.
Many students have been looking forward to this celebration for months hoping to end the roller coaster of a senior year on a high note.
