This past season the Oak Lawn Speech Team has had an amazing season with conference coming in hot. With a giant win from the Richard’s Saturday Morning Smackdown the Oak Lawn Speech Team took first place. Many varsity members made it into finals and placed. Grace Sievers took first place in her event, with various other members such as Jada Jackson, Marco Hernandez, Sofia Serna (in two event), James Walsh, Melak Shehadeh, Alondra Camacho, and Daniel McLawhorn. An incredibly talented group of people with many other point getters lead the Spartan Speech team to victory! Each member has been steadily improving through lots hard work and a little bit of luck throughout the course of the season. The incredible dedication and help of co-head coaches Mr. Olssen and Mr. Capriola  doesn’t go unnoticed. Through their support the team has had a wonderful season with each tournament getting better and better. Every kid is learning how to make the best of their words so keep an eye out for the rest of their season. With conference just a few days away, all of the coaches are very excited! This Saturday, four members per event will be going against some of their biggest competition in our conference.  With nearly four and a half months of practice, at Oak Lawn Community High School , under their belts the speech teams feels very prepared. Head coach Matt Capriola had this to say about it, “I think we will do great, we have improved a lot and I’m very optimistic”. Coming in with the championship tile from last year olchs is the top dog and they plan to keep it that way. All Spartans are wishing the team the best of luck at conference!
