The Oak Lawn chapter of National Honor Society has been working diligently in preparation for the first ever SOUPer Bowl. The SOUPer Bowl is a brand new event a week before the biggest game in the NFL season.
The event has been planned in order to raise funds for the Lung and Heart Association of America. Members of National Honor Society and the Visual Arts club have joined together to create handmade clay bowls that will be auctioned for money.

Members of both clubs first molded clay into a bowl shape. After the clay dried, club members painted and decorated the bowls with many themes including sports teams, children’s movies, academic subjects, books, floral patterns and much more!

The bowls were then fired and glazed in order to get a shiny, brand new, sleek look. Attendants will then have the chance to buy the bowls in an auction like sale.

At the event itself, four different soups will be served to those who attend. The soup is being contributed by the school’s new food service company, Country House.

Later, baked goods will be offered to all who come to the SOUPer Bowl. The money received from admission and the auctions will go to fund the National Honor Society’s Heart and Lung donations.

These donations will then go towards the admission fees for NHS members when they fight lung diseases by climbing the Hancock Tower in downtown Chicago. The Hustle Up The Hancock event will take place on February 26.

The SOUPer Bowl will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 in the Oak Lawn High School student café. The event starts at 11am and ends at 1pm. Each ticket is $6, but children 6 and under get in for free!
