Once again, the Oak Lawn Theater Department has put on a phenomenal show. This year’s musical was “Spamalot” based on the movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
For those who didn’t see the musical or aren’t familiar with Monty Python, King Arthur is on a quest to find knights to take with him on his journey. Once he finds his Knights, they travel to Camelot, where God gives them a mission to find The Holy Grail. King Arthur and his Knights realize that each of them have a different purpose which serves as their Grail.
Cast members worked from the end of August to the end of October to memorize their lines, songs and dances. Crew members worked equally as hard to make sure that the castle was just right and the scene preperations were flawless.
The musical starred Jacob Montesano as King Arthur, Mercedes Lopez as King Arthur’s assistant, Patsy, Megan Baker, as the narrator and God, Josh Cash, Abigail Moore, Tyler Orel, and Jonathan McLawhorn as the Knights of the Round Table, Alexandra Overland as The Lady of the Lake and Matthew Olejniczak as Herbet.
Senior, Alex Overland states, “At first a lot of us were very nervous to not have Mr. Denton as our director, but throughout the show, we realized that working with a new director was great for us because we got to expand our horizons by being in a different type of learning environment and were still able to put on a successful show. I am so glad to share such a wonderful experience with Mr. Pastiak and the rest of the cast and cannot wait to see what other amazing productions are in store for Mr. Pastiak and the rest of the Oak Lawn Theater Program.”                                     Although the cast had to work with a new director, they were still able to cope with the change and put on a great show that Oak Lawn will always remember.
